CLASS GENRES OFFERED

Dance Dimensions continues to expand our performing arts programs to make more classes available to our students. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our studio or classes.

Pointe

This form of classical ballet training is offered to only the serious experienced ballet student with a strong ballet background in classical training and correct strength and body alignment. The teacher must approve for the student to advance to this level of training.

Musical Theatre

Muscial Theatre is available for ages 4 and up. musical theatre is a highly stylized form of dance that uses music, movement and interpretation of the song to convey its message. This class will help the dancer to develop personality and a strong stage presence. Theatre games and basic dramatic and acting techniques will also be introduced in this class. From the broadway stage to the studio ballroom, musical theatre is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to shine like a real “Pro” on stage!

Lyrical/ Contemporary

These classes are offered to only the experienced ballet students. Lyrical dance is available for intermediate/advanced students. Lyrical is an advanced style of dance that borrows the techniques of ballet, jazz and modern. In lyrical dance, the quality of movement is closely connected to the quality of the music and the interpretation of the lyrics to convey the emotion or story of the song. Contemporary is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music.

Ballet

Primary ballet training is for students ages 5 and up. Ballet is based on techniques that have been developed over centuries and serves as a back bone for many other styles of dance. Ballet has a specific training curriculum to develop good posture, body placement, alignment, balance, strength and muscle control. It is an elegant and graceful dance art and the foundation of all dance.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop dancing was born in the 1980’s in urban areas as an expressional movement to hip hop music. Fast forward to today where hip hop dancing has become a larger genre for more individualized styles. Take Krumping or B Boy for example; each has its own specific characteristic but each are considered a form of hip hop dance. Hip hop dance is also portrayed in music videos on MTV and numerous other music videos. This class allows more freedom of movement and expression than most areas of dance.

Tap

The tap program is based on a graded system of tap for all ages. Beginning with a primary tap program ages 5-8, with more serious studies beginning at age 8 to adult. Specific tap steps and progressions must be acquired for each level of training. This is a great class to tap out rhythms and master the sounds from your feet to the music.

Jazz

Jazz is available for students 5 years and older with more serious studies for ages 8 to adult. Jazz is a highly energized and rhythmic style of dance that was born in America. Jazz technique involves sharp isolated movements combined with coordination, flexibility and strength. The influence of musical styles past and present, current social & cultural influences, all make up the energy of jazz.

Acro/Gymnastics

Teaches flexibility, strength, balance, muscle control and tumbling skills, as well as technical precision, discipline and concentration. Students are taught both power tumbling and acrobatic strength and flexibility tricks. | Available for ages 5 and older.
